If you’re looking to buy sealed monster boxes of American silver eagle coins, then GoldSilverInsider.com is here to save you massive amounts of money. We compare more than 15 of the leading online bullion dealers to find exactly which one has the lowest prices on sealed green monster boxes.
To prove our point, there’s currently a difference of $1,760 between the lowest priced dealer and the highest priced dealer. Imagine if your normal dealer is the one with the highest prices. You could have saved a lot of money on your purchase.
Not only that, but think about how many more ounces of silver you could buy with the same amount of money. You could buy almost 60 more ounces of silver. So instead of getting 500 ounces, you could have bought 560 with the same amount of fiat dollars. That is an astounding difference. And this is why we created our website.
So the next time you want to purchase a silver eagle monster box, simply check our website first to make sure you are getting the absolute best price. All these dealers are selling the same product that comes directly from the US Mint. So why would you pay more for the same thing?
The green US Mint silver eagle monster box holds 500 ounces of US Mint silver eagle coins. Therefore, the standard value for silver eagle monster boxes is equivalent to the value of 500 individual silver eagles.
However, there are a few variables to notate here.
First, most dealers offer bulk quantity pricing via pricing tiers. This means the more you buy, the cheaper the silver eagle will be. Or to be exactly correct, the more you buy, the less the premium price will be.
Therefore, if you are looking up silver eagle coin prices to try and determine the value of a silver eagle monster box, just make sure you are looking at the correct tier for quantity of 500 or more.
There are some people that will tell you sealed boxes are worth more than non-sealed boxes, so let’s address that. Is it possible for sealed boxes to be worth more than non-sealed boxes? Yes, with a few caveats.
The first caveat is that your sealed monster box needs to have some age to it. For example, let’s imagine that you buy a sealed silver eagle monster box in 2021 and sell it in 2022. In this scenario, there will be no value difference between sealed and not sealed.
But if you buy a sealed monster box in 2021 and hold it for 5 or more years, then it is possible a dealer might “pay up” for that monster box. This means they might pay you more per ounce then if the silver eagles did not come from a sealed monster box.
For example, they might pay you silver spot + $2 for silver eagles not in your sealed box. But it’s possible that they would pay you silver spot + $5 for silver eagle in a sealed monster box from 2021 in the future. This is a significant $1,500 difference.
So why is it possible a dealer might “pay up” for certain sealed boxes? Dealers are only going to pay up for these types of silver eagles if they think they can sell them as collectible items and make additional profits. The most common way for dealers to do this is to send the sealed monster box off to PCGS or NGC and grade as many of the coins as MS-70 (perfect) or MS-69 (near perfect) coins.
Let’s wrap up sealed vs non-sealed silver eagle monster box values. Yes, it is possible for your sealed monster box to be worth more if you keep it sealed. But a few variables have to come into play.
First it will depend on how old the sealed box is.
Next, it will depend on what year the coins are and what happened in that year. Did anything special happen that would make that year more collectible?
If these two things are true, then it’s possible your sealed silver eagle monster box might have more value if you keep it sealed.
In the scenario above, if in fact you have a sealed silver eagle monster box from a valuable year, then you would need to find a dealer interested in collectibles. Most regular bullion dealers are not interested in this type of buyback. But some are.
Most specifically, here are the dealers you could try and call to get the highest price in this particular scenario: APMEX, Gainesville Coins, SD Bullion, Bullion Exchanges, Blanchard Gold and Heritage Auctions. This is not an exhaustive list, but a lot of these businesses have shown interest in this type of transaction.
If you’re a bulk silver coin buyer, then you might want to consider the price of other silver coins too. Specifically, if you check Silver Maple Leaf coin prices, you will see that silver maple leafs from the Royal Canadian Mint are almost always offered at a lower rate.
Therefore, if you’re a price sensitive investor and you want to stick with silver coins, but you want to most bang for your buck. Then the silver maple leaf coins is definitely worth prices shopping to see just how many more ounces you could get vs buying silver eagle coins.
The American Silver Eagle coin is one of the most beautiful and largest silver coins on the bullion coin market. As early as 1986, the Silver Eagle coins in “uncirculated” quality were issued for investors in the standard version of one ounce. Since then there have been annual editions of the coin. The design of the silver investment coin is extremely complex and is based on a design by the engraver Adolph Weinman, which includes the famous “Walking Liberty” on the obverse side of the coin and the classic bald eagle on the reverse.
